This is a high growth, entrepreneurial opportunity within an established entity that is building their financial infrastructure.   It is located north and west of Boston.  The successful candidate will be a high achiever with excellent technical skills, a tolerance for ambiguity and a roll up the sleeves attitude to get the job done.  This role requires the ability to multi-task and work in a rapidly changing environment.  The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing a team of up to five staff.  The principal responsibilities of this role include the following:
Month End
  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual closings including journal entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Perform general accounting functions. Complete monthly journal entries such as cash transactions, prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, accrued expenses, debt and equity transactions, and recording of certain expenses. Maintain detailed close files to support individual accounts (e.g. Fixed Assets).
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly and annual and financial reports
  • Assist with board reporting packages
Day-To-Day Management
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities of staff
  • Manage accounts payable operations, including invoice entry, payments, and vendor management activities and internal reporting for A/P, Projects, Cash Management, Fixed Assets and Payroll
  • Assists with the implementation of various systems as the company grows
Audit & Tax
  • Act as immediate contact with organization’s independent auditors on accounting matters. Prepares annual audit schedules. Works with external auditors on the audit process and working with the team to successfully complete the audit.
  • Support other projects, as necessary, such as preparation of tax information and systems implementations.
Accounting Policies, Procedures, Systems
  • Help identify, develop and implement accounting policies and procedures as required with a focus on driving efficiencies through effective and efficient use of the accounting systems.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance. CPA required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP 
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct software is a plus. 
  • Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel, are required.
