The Corporate Communications Lead will report to the Head of Corporate Communications and be based in Philadelphia, PA.  The person will be, at different times, a writer, project manager, event manager, digital expert, critical/creative thinker, storyteller, and communication expert as part of a small communications team with a driving ambition to break down barriers for patients and families affected by debilitating genetic diseases globally.

The Corporate Communications Lead will be responsible for creating and leading Spark’s internal communication strategy aligned to the overall corporate communications strategy, with a specific focus on building internal and external thought leadership on cutting-edge topics that advance corporate reputation, maximize impact of executive visibility, and enhance employee engagement and understanding of strategy.  She/he will be responsible for executing the internal communication plan, measuring its success, and enhancing initiatives as needed. He or she will also manage external facing executive communications and employee engagement activities in the community.

The ideal candidate will be strategic, collaborative, passionate, high energy, organized, detail-oriented, creative, and willing to create a new path in internal communications. Candidate needs to be able to work independently on a wide variety of corporate communications initiatives and projects.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute an internal communication strategy and plan, which may include creating and publishing a wide variety of materials such as presentations, email messages, web content, newsletters, etc.
  • Manage and create engaging corporate content on the Intranet, as well as lead a cross-functional team of functional contributors.
  • Support content development and execution of new and/or alternative communication channels (i.e., video, digital signage).
  • Ensures overall planning, process and execution of communications are timely, accurate and effective.
  • Manage internal digital channels, including Intranet and e-boards, to inform employees and engage them in corporate strategy.
  • Measure impact and work cross-functionally to support evolution of growing organization.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and chemistry among internal stakeholders by contributing to the workplace culture that aligns with Spark’s values and goals

  • Leads partnership with the HR function to nurture Spark’s unique culture through high-impact employee engagement and communication strategies such as Coffee Talks, All Employee Events, etc   
  • Ensures overall planning, process and execution of communications are timely, accurate and effective.

  • Develops presentations, speeches and briefing materials for executive communications for events such as  town halls, high-profile industry conferences, and others.

  • Develop and execute plans around corporate and employee engagement in the community as aligned to corporate strategy and our mission and vision.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in corporate communications at a biotech or pharmaceutical company, academic institution, healthcare organization, PR agency, or related position. 
  • Experience in internal communications and employee engagement strongly preferred
  • Experience using digital communications and tactics. Intranet design and content management experience skills required.
