This position will provide oversight and strategic direction for the distribution of supplies, logistics, and inventory management for the system. Through collaboration and direct accountability with onsite logistics and materials management staff, the Director will develop a system-wide approach for end-to-end supply chain integration that lowers the total cost of distribution and inventory management functions while improving customer service and support to all caregivers. The Director is accountable for the direct oversight of all logistic and materials management teams across the system.



  • Accountable for assuring all implantable and critical care devices / products are managed appropriately across the health system and in compliance with inventory tracking regulations and best practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring all patient care areas maintain adequate supplies to meet their needs for safe and effective patient care.
  • Ensures logistic and materials management activities are integrated with quality outcomes to deploy a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety.
  • Establishes measurement and analytical tools as a single source of truth for logistics and materials management activities.
  • Accountable for the development and effective operation of logistics and materials management services that fully meet and or exceed both internal and external customer expectations.
  • Leads Supply Chain in the surveillance of customer service satisfaction as obtained through rounding and complaint management to identify opportunities for improvement in the customer experience and gaps in the customer service experience specific to logistics and materials management.
  • Engages with key leadership and physician stakeholders regarding cost reduction opportunities around proposed product and service changes.
  • Develops and implements an internal consulting capability focused on evaluating and documenting the flow of material through the Health System, identifying gaps in sourcing, logistics, distribution, and inventory management and recommends process redesign for service improvement and cost reduction.
  • Accountable for improving logistics and materials management performance through increased unit-based inventory turns, elimination of duplicative inventories, reduction in official inventories, minimization of inventory write-offs, and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Leverages materials management technology solutions to create optimal efficiencies and ensures appropriate information linkages to other systems, i.e., materials / inventory management information systems, surgical information systems and patient charge systems, point-of-use technology, and e-commerce.




  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
  • Masters of Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in logistics and supply chain management preferred.
  • Healthcare experience highly preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience; 
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain logistics, inventory management, LEAN processes, and distribution center / medical mall support models.
