START-UP – FINANCE MANAGER
We’re helping an exciting Start-Up in the Bay area turn an old fashion, outdated industry on its head! In a market that sold over $25B of food/products in 2016, all/most are producing the same mass-produced & generic products. We’re using technology, data and a huge focus on nutrition to deliver a more customizable and healthy solution/experience. With dramatically different products that speak for themselves, and newly deployed customized systems and technologies design by some of the areas most talented cracker jack engineers, we are expecting a sizable disruption in the industry.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Finance Manager that will be responsible for financial planning, analysis of strategic initiatives, managerial reporting, budget management, and oversight of accounting and financial operations. Currently these functions are being handled by a consultant and its time to bring them in house. Successful candidates will be able to roll up their sleeves, dig into the detail, build tools and processes, and lead cross-functional initiatives. Reporting to the co-founders and engaging regularly with company leadership, this is a strategic role that will help shape the finance operations team.
Develop and maintain robust financial and operational models
Oversee revenue, expense and cash flow forecasts
Create Actual vs. Variance reports, develop presentations for the Board, and provide action items for the management team
Develop scenario plans and ROI analyses to support strategic initiatives and key managerial decisions
Lead projects to address opportunities for revenue & cost optimization.
Analyze department-level finances and develop budgets to control costs.
Design and manage the month-end close process
Oversee financial operations (billing, financial documentation, expense management), execute on key financial operations projects, and establish and maintain strong business controls.
Identify and manage strategic accounting initiatives, and oversee the company’s first audit
Responsible for all financial documentation and reporting
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or another relevant field (MBA a plus)
5+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years of Corporate Finance, FP&A and/or Managerial Accounting experience at a high growth startup or large technology company.
Exceptional MS Excel skills with knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
Analytical thought process, attention to detail, metrics driven and comfortable working with data
Ability to translate complex financial data/analysis into clear and simple report
Emotional intelligence, professional maturity and a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Ability to manage multiple complex and sometimes competing projects simultaneously.
