Provide human resources support activities within the benefits and generalist arena to multiple sites.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Process group insurance benefits programs, reconcile insurance invoices, & code to general ledger accounts. This includes group medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, STD, & LTD. Administer vacation, sick days, FMLA, disability, and other time-off policies. Administer change of status, terminations, invoices, reports, etc. Respond to unemployment compensation notices and employment verifications. Research, analyze, recommend, negotiate, and implement various benefits/HR programs.
Perform recruiting activities including posting job openings internally and externally, screening candidates by phone, conducting initial interviews, skills testing, reference checking, composing related correspondence, scheduling drug tests, arranging for temporary employees, etc.
Conduct new hire and employee benefits orientations. Processes new hires, change of status, and terminations. Maintain database and records such as I-9’s, employee records, applications/resumes, etc. Assist with benefits and compliance audits. Assist employees with benefit questions and other issues. Conduct exit interviews. Distribute Summary Plan Descriptions and maintain adequate HR supply levels. Assist with employee relations’ activities. Assist with presentations and supervisory/employee training activities. Perform other human resources duties as required.
Qualifications & Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Human Resources) and/or PHR certification is required. Must have at least 3 years of recruiting and benefits administration experience. Must be well versed in employment laws and be able to interpret Summary Plan Descriptions. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to establish and maintain working relations with others. Must have strong human relations skills demonstrated by a commitment to people and a desire to work on behalf of people. Word and spreadsheet experience are required. HRIS and Report Smith experience are a plus. Must be well organized, attentive to details, and have good math aptitude.
