Newly created JIB and Accounts Payable Supervisor position.  This role will manage a small team and establish new policies and procedures.  

JIB/AP Supervisor

  • Ensure the accounting of certain aspects of JIB are completed.  This includes monthly allocations, overhead calucalations, cutback entries, JIB suspense and LOE accruals.  
  • Ensure JIB transactions are properly recorded by managing the close process, analyzing data and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support JIB audits.
  • Responsible for certain JIB accounting SOX controls and execution.
  • Determine billable vs. nonbillable treatment for various transactions.
  • Manage Payout accounting including completion of monthly and quarterly payout statement requirements, identification of wells reaching payout and determining the proper payout penalties are applied to each well.
  • Oversee the monthly LOE accrual process.
  • Work with the financial analysts to provide reporting on LOE.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to balance competing demands.
  • Provide requested data to the external auditors.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and lead implementation of process changes.
  • Assist with special projects, as required.



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with accounting, financial reporting and accounting systems.
  • Leadership and people management skills along with the ability to interact with all departments and levels through an organization.
  • Experience in the oil and gas exploration and production (upstream) industry required.
  • Knowledgeable of COPAS and US GAAP, with specific experience in accounting systems software and month-end close processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to reconcile large volumes of data.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills.
  • Prefer prior experience with SAP or other similar accounting ledger system.
  • Proficiency in PC based software/windows applications such as Microsoft Office products - Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel on the rare occasion.
