Job Description 
The Manager of the Infection Prevention Department is responsible to plan, direct and oversee the operations of the Infection Prevention and Control functions throughout the hospital, clinics and skilled nursing areas and employee health services. 
  • Determine, with the input from administration, staffing requirements.
  • Hire and train new staff.
  • Supervise Infection Prevention staff.
  • Sets Infection Prevention staff goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and assist staff with work progress.
  • Develop and implement hospital-wide infection prevention and control program.
  • Review all departmental infection control policies and procedures.
  • Develop infection prevention and control educational programs for all healthcare workers, including physicians and other LIPs.
  • Evaluate the staff’s use of current system for defining, reporting and evaluating infections with the hospital.
  • Formulate Infection Prevention department policies.
  • Formulate, review and revise hospital-wide infection prevention policies.
  • Performs a review and evaluation of all aseptic, isolation and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist with development of monthly reports and statistics as required.
  • Monitor the Infection Prevention department’s compliance with California Department of Public Health regulations and accreditation standards. Make recommendations for change and follows up to ensure compliance.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory regulations.
  • Investigate and follows up on all hospital staff who have an infectious disease.
  • Develop and implement a mechanism whereby all staff that has an infection disease is monitored.
Experience Required:
  • Management experience in Infection Prevention in an acute care hospital setting required
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) OR appropriate Bachelors to obtain Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS)
License/Certification Required:
  • Current CA RN License OR Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license
  • Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) required
  • BLS
