My client is a very successful privately owned regional, asset based Courier and Trucking Company, which also includes a small Truckload Brokerage operation, located in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. They have built up a consistent and substantial business over the last 30 years and continue to grow the business.  With this growth they are looking for an experienced, results oriented, professional operation executive to assume a key role within the organization to help drive significant future growth and profitability. Although the company has experienced a certain level of success, this is all about what the company can be, not what it is today.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • In this role you will oversee all Operational aspects of each sector of the business and report to (and really work with) the President of the company.  The President is a hands-on hard working individual who cares about his employees and customers and wants things done well, and you will be expected to do the same.
  • You will have significant P&L responsibility and participate in frequent management reviews ensuring costs are contained and monitored and that profit objectives are on track.
  • A primary responsibility will be to ensure processes are developed, disseminated, understood and followed across all divisions. 
  • You will lead your management teams in all aspects of Driver, Customer and Vendor facing activities associated with the daily operations.
  • In concert with the president you will identify initiatives and projects to be taken on and managed with your management staff for the betterment of the organization.
  • You will work directly with the sales team developing growth strategies for the company.
  • You will succeed in this position if you communicate well, hold people accountable in a fair and consistent manner, and consistently deliver results.
  • More typical and specific day to day responsibilities will be itemized and discussed if you move forward in the selection process.
 
Requirements:
  • We would like to see a minimum of 10 years experience in FTL asset based trucking operations with operational experience on the FTL brokerage side as well.  Experience in Courier Operations is a plus as well.
  • An MBA or Bachelors degree is highly valued, but not necessary if your experience and career progression is exemplary.  If you love working with people and have outstanding experience working in a Truckload freight environment….impress us!!
  • You must have an acute understanding of P&L oversight and management, good general business acumen, a professional demeanor and also “street smarts”.  This requirement alone may be the one that trips up most candidates.  Do you have the whole package?
  • If you are a sit in your office and dictate from top down manager, please don’t waste your time or ours.  You have to be able to roll up your sleeves and help the guy on the dock in the morning and throw on a tie and meet with the owner of one of our fortune 500 customers in the afternoon. 
  • You must be comfortable and adept in any business or social setting.  You will be expected to represent the company favorably at social and association functions and with clients both big and small.We expect you to look at this opportunity as a “career move”.  You will be the second in command of this company and this has to be a great fit for you and the President, but most importantly the employees, many of whom have worked for this company for over 20 years.

Compensation:
  • We are open to a wide range of possibilities on this and we expect to compensate you on this position commensurate with your experience and by what you bring to the table.  We anticipate paying a very fair Base Salary but are also interested in selecting a person who is confident in their abilities to meet and exceed objectives and would expect to be well compensated for these successes.  Part of the final interview process will involve detailed discussions on what this bonus plan looks like and your thoughts and input would be appreciated and expected.
