We are recruiting for a Shell Technician for a solid Foundry client of ours.   

  • Apply prime and backup coats to mold assemblies with a refractory shell, under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor.
  • Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as part number, number of molds to coat and the appropriate dipping procedure to be followed.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws to scrap out the parts.
  • Prepare and oversee prime and backup slurry according to prescribe formulas by mixing batches of materials.
  • Perform viscosity testing and control the quality of the slurry.
  • Perform daily testing and charting to maintain process control.
  • Interpret test results and adjust slurry to maintain as per the specifications. 
  • Setup racks with assemblies to be dipped and record all pertinent information on routers and instruction sheets.        
  • Apply prime and backup coats to molds manually and by robot using prepared slurries and refractories.       
  • Operate and oversee robot operation for prime and backup slurries.
  • Assure dryness of previous dip coats before application new coats.         
  • Oversee drying and finish molds ready for dewaxing.
  • Finish the assigned work in the allotted time and maintain the production levels.
  • Feed the number and types of parts worked on in the ERP system using the routers.                            
  • Place scrap castings in assigned carts as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Use computer programs to record accurate data / follow router/ achieve rates established or notify lead person for effective communication.  
  • Inspect and report product or equipment defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Production Supervisor.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Report any accident occurred in the plant related to person, equipment, material or any other to the Production Supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Employee Handbook and adhere to proper code of conduct while in the company property.
  • Ensure work meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures.
  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner and comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Attend scheduled training programs to enhance skills and for safety purposes.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by your supervisor.   
  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
