This Boston based client is building a world leading open ocean aquaculture technology company.  If you're passionate about building technology that will make a difference, we are the team for you. We are seeking an experienced Computer Vision and Machine Learning Engineer to join our energetic team and shape the next generation of ocean farming state-of-the-art products by leveraging computer vision and camera sensors. 
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for design and application of computer vision in real-time, high quality broadcast systems.
They are seeking a professional that has self-starting qualities, enjoys being hands-on and working in teams. One that can work with occasional ambiguity, but also possess the ability to work closely with customers and suppliers to develop engineering requirements.
Creative hands-on practical experience is needed. All with a focus on creating cutting-edge product offerings that help maximize fish well-being and operational excellence of open ocean farm installations. 
  • Develop detailed vision design specs for assigned projects.
  • Perform model training and algorithm development
  • Implement state-of-the-art knowledge in AI design, testing techniques, and vision application development.
  • Specify cameras, optics, and lighting for challenging vision applications, including marine submerged environments. 
  • Collaborate in the design of custom optics and lighting solutions for the challenges of vision applications
  • Work with a team of software and hardware engineers to productize what has been developed.
  • Collaborate with clients and scientific advisors in marine biology, oceanography and engineering to establish next generation tools for inspection, surveillance and reporting on fish and farm.
  • Setting project schedules.
  • Travel domestically /internationally to R&D Sites and customer visits.
  • Build performant and scalable applications from scratch.
  • Build reusable code and libraries.
  • Work with marketing to help develop features as well as help define future features on the product plan. 
Required Experience:
  • Proficient in vision analysis (blob analysis, pattern matching, activity recognition)
  • Proficient in computer vision - object detection, recognition and tracking; multiple view geometry, 3D computer vision, 3D geometry reconstruction, scanning
  • Proficient of CNN and other deep learning environments such as Inception (GoogleNet).
  • Knowledge of OpenCV options such as Torch/PyTorch, Tensor Flow and Caffe.
  • Knowledge of SfM/SLAM
  • Vision system development skills (Camera, Lens, Laser and Lighting selection)
  • Multi-image Strobe in motion methodologies a plus.
  • 2D and 3D Laser Metrology a plus.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes and motivate others to do the same.
  • Must be eligible for or have a valid passport.
  • MSc in Computer Learning or Machine Vision.  PhD preferred.   
  • 4+ years’ experience designing Machine Vision Systems (including image analysis methodology).
  • 4+ years’ experience developing software using C++, Python, VB.NET, C#.NET, or C++.NET.
  • Experience with various types of  Version Control Software
  • Vision system applications skills (Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, OpenCV, Matrox) a plus
  • Spanish language skills are a plus
Travel will be required for this position including both domestic and international destinations.  Major test sites are in Panama and Baja, Mexico.
