SoBran, Inc. is seeking a Trainer/Technical Resource Specialist to serve in Baltimore, MD with expected travel to Greensboro, NC. 

OVERVIEW:  This position is for a Trainer/Technical Resource Specialist for SoBran’s Contract Research Organization. It includes activities for the proper care of animals and technical work involving animals. This person will be familiar with the day-to-day activities, employees, and concerns within the facilities. The Trainer/Technical Resource Specialist needs to be forward thinking, creative, and assist in developing plans to enhance the learning abilities and performance of the staff. 

Essential Duties of the Trainer/Technical Resource Specialist:

  • Understands and follows appropriate SOPs, GLP regulations, safety procedures, and quality assurance standards
  • Assists in the SOP review process, including creating and revising SOPs, and ensuring all SOPs are reviewed at least once every 2 years
  • Develops, implements, and periodically updates a multi-facility training program
  • Develops staff training curriculum to consist of hands-on demonstrations, instructional classroom, or a combination of these
  • Develops and conducts staff training, to include:
    o New hire training, Promotion Training, New PI training
    o SOP training (new and/or revised)
    o All staff training sessions
    o AALAS certification review sessions
    o Safety training
    o GLP training
  • Ensures each employee is trained/proficient on current SOPs required for their position; performing employee assessments to verify proficiency
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in all areas of the facilities
  • Works with management to identify and prioritize topics for staff training
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains required training forms, employee training folders, and training database in accordance with GLP requirements
  • Reports any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to management
  • Assists with AAALAC site visits, FDA inspections and USDA inspections
  • Assists with contract research study execution with husbandry and technical procedures
  • Performs other duties under supervision as assigned 

Required Schedule:  Weekend work may be required as scheduled; in addition to extra hours during emergency situations and during study related activities.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent
  • LAT certification required

Required Experience:

  • 3 years of large and small animal technical experience in a GLP laboratory required
  • Previous experience performing necropsies preferred
  • Working knowledge of all activities of an animal facility preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Computer proficiency working with software such as MS Office products, Adobe Acrobat, and web browsers
  • Previous experience with Pristima preferred
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period
