Chemical Engineer (Jackson, MI)

Be part of the team that is helping to energize the power industry! Join our Operational Chemistry group where you'll act as an in-house consultant providing chemistry and chemical engineering support in the areas of system chemistry control with an emphasis on water-steam cycle chemistry. Responsibilities will include:
- Acting as resource regarding high purity water production, water treatment for corrosion/deposit control, and chemical cleaning
- Providing support in relation to fuel and furnace chemistry, flue gas conditioning, waste water treatment and lubrication chemistry
- Contacting numerous groups, including plant staff at various levels, engineering and environmental departments, the analytical lab and outside vendors
- Helping establish specifications and standards for the fossil generation plants with the goal of maximizing operational efficiency and reliability through reduced corrosion or deposition
- Reviewing chemistry data for adverse patterns or trends
- Recommending courses of action
- Updating and implementing the Cycle Chemistry Improvement Plan
Position Requirements: Success requires:
- A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (chemical engineering degree is preferred)
- 1-5 years of experience
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, negotiation and communication skills
- PC proficiency with MS Office
- Willingness and availability to travel domestically with the potential for international travel
- A professional chemical engineering background
- Valid driver's license
- A familiarity with the thermodynamic steam cycle is helpful
