Medical Device Manufacturer seeks a Safety Professional

The Safety Specialist is responsible for driving the overall efforts of the site toward its business goals by directing safety related activities, policy administration and identification and implementation of safety training needs. Ensures that the organization is in compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

1. Maintain and follow proper compliance and quality systems requirements.
2. Working with internal and external EHS professionals to provide appropriate health monitoring as required and respond to all OSHA inquiries.
3. Coordination with all departments to assist with new hire orientation, contractor safety compliance and all other interdepartmental safety requirements.
4. Motivates Associates towards a safer work environment through mentoring and leadership, implementation of an Associate drive 24/7 safety program and on-going communication of company safety standards.
5. Assure current, new and altered equipment and processes do not expose associates to risk of injury or adverse health related conditions.
6. Report serious adverse conditions immediately to Site Plant Manager for resolution
7. Provide OSHA required annual training to Associates
8. Lead the activities of and facilitate scheduled Safety Committee meetings
9. Recommend/schedule other safety training that supports safety communication and improvement
10. Perform Safety audits:
a. Prepared internal audit plan
b. Participate in audits by outside agencies
c. Work with management to prioritize improvement activities
11. Participates in incident investigations; ensures timely and complete reporting and documentation of all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions/activities.
12. Review all accident/incident reports and investigations for completion
13. Ensures all safety recordkeeping is properly documented and maintained and that all required OSHA reports up to date
14. Work in conjunction with Human Resources and management to coordinate an effective return to work program
15. Complies and reports site safety status monthly to management by the 3rd working day of the month including OSHA recordable information, record keeping of all accidents/incidents, WC cost and lost time injury report.


Qualifications:
Requires Bachelors degree in safety, environmental, engineering or equivalent coupled with a minimum of 3 years safety related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Some training experience or equivalent presentation skills.
